| The revision of the law in 1947 allowed small vehicles up to 1500 cc to be produced (increased from a maximum of 750 cc), which gave rise to the Datsun DA Standard Sedan. The DA was equipped with a control valve device suspended from the meter cluster, which employed a lever-operated mixture control (MC) device that increased or decreased the fuel inflow in order to save fuel. The following year, the Datsun DB Deluxe Sedan was built, completely newly designed from the cab front. The body of the DB was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and resembled the small Crosley car produced at the same time in the US. In 1950, the engine displacement was increased from 722 cc to 860 cc (the DB-2) and the chassis was also reinforced. The 4-door DB-4 was released in 1951, which had been highly anticipated by the taxi industry. The DB-5, which was equipped with a 25 ps engine, was released in 1953. It featured approximately 350 improvements from the DB-4. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, who still built the bodies, employed a stamping method by integrating the side members. Production ceased in 1954 with the DB-6. This model line, which featured a continuous series of small improvements, was a crucial to the survival of Datsun's passenger car operations. |
