| This car was the result of a technical assistance agreement signed between Isuzu and the Rootes Group from Britain in 1953, and was well received as a high-class British passenger vehicle. The new Hillman was introduced in 1956 and the proportion of Japanese domestic production increased as a result of technology transfers. By October 1957, all parts for the vehicle were made in Japan, and it was built until June 1964. The car on display is the first Japanese-built model, and it is currently on loan at the Toyota Automobile Museum. |
